Yoga is continuing to grow in popularity as over 170 countries around the world celebrate the fifth International Yoga Day on June 21, 2019. Yog guru Ms. Aarti Pal conducted a session for students on this day. Ms. Aarti Pal has won many medals at international and national yoga competitions, has been honoured with various titles like, 'Miss Yogini of the world' 'Yoga Princess' to name a few. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in yoga.
The students from class 6 to 12 began the day by performing various 'asanas' in the sports complex. The session began with warming up exercises, followed by pranayama. Tadasana, Padhastaasna, Trikonasana, Virbhadrasana, Ardhachakrasana were some of the standing postures performed. Dandasana, bhujangasana, pawanmuktasana, shashankasana, ushtrasana, baddhakonasana, were some of the sitting asanas performedby the children.The session concluded with shavasana.
Students of primary school demonstrated various asanas followed by Omkar chanting. Warm up exercises wereconducted, and all the students performed sitting, standing and balancing asanas like Trikonaasana, Bhujangasana, Pawan Muktaasana, finally ending with Pranayama and meditation. Different types of laughter exercises made the atmosphere lively.
Teachers also enthusiastically participated with them.
